Cinematica wages a High-Tech War against Piracy

The recent surge in piracy across south-asia has become a huge problem for everyone in cinema industry which also includes thousands of supporting technicians. Piracy is directly responsible for the decline in the average income of an artist or a technician. Solving piracy has taken a center stage for its demise would mean a happy and a healthy movie industry.

Hence, many lead actors have taken the fight against piracy to the streets and were directly instrumental in identifying the piracy centers and destroying the discs. However, solving piracy at this level has been neither efficient nor effective. Most of the piracy activities, secret filming and distribution, are happening undercover.

Cinematica Digitals aims to kill piracy at its source – the cinema theatres. Assisted with Qube Digital XP-E technology, a digital cinema delivery system, Cinematica Digitals makes it possible to identify the precise location and timing of piracy. This information can be used to trace the perpetrators and nip the activity in its budding stage.

The anti-piracy technology used by QUBE server is aligned with global standards in encryption and water marking. The QUBE Digital movie server is fully encrypted and invisibly water-marked; which means content cannot be copied and the water marking does not disturb the ‘visual’ cinema experience. This feature is very helpful in identifying information related to piracy.

While anti-piracy features can provide more walk-ins, the theaters will also be automatically recognized as a ‘safe theater’ to both distributors and producers once a theater goes with QUBE cinema.

“Cutting piracy at its source is an important initiative towards killing piracy comprehensively”, says Allu Venkatesh – Managing Director, Cinematica  Digitals. He adds, “The benefits of such a system can only be reaped after a wide-scale adoption of the new technology sooner than later. Hence we are actively promoting this new technology even into remote areas by subsidizing the costs of the purchase”
